Michelle Speck serves as chief administrative officer (CAO) at USMD. As CAO, Michelle is responsible for the strategic planning and vision, long-term organizational planning and direction across USMD. In addition, she oversees the leadership and day-to-day operations of the hospitals, the cancer treatment center, diagnostic services, medical specialties, surgical specialties and supply chain management.
She has nearly 25 years of experience working in human resources, strategic planning, business development, finance and marketing.
Prior to joining USMD, Michelle served as regional vice president of human resources at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System, a world-renowned health care provider and insurer, based in Pittsburgh, Pa., that operates more than 20 academic, community and specialty hospitals and 400 outpatients sites. During her time at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System, Michelle was responsible for the strategic and day-to-day human resource operations of two healthcare institutions and all related physician entities.
Her previous positions included tenures as vice president of human resources and ancillary services at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Altoona and Bedford Memorial, vice president of human resources and strategic planning at Thomas Holding Company and vice president of marketing and business development at Ward Trucking. In addition, she has served as adjunct professor at Mount Aloysius College.
Michelle earned her bachelor’s degree in organizational management at Penn State University and her Masters of Business Administration at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
